Bodybuilding.com’s TOP 50 selling products!

“Not that I know anything about anything, but as long as I’ve been following T&A, they’ve had a bulk of merchandise for low drawing talent and basically nothing for the Knockouts other than a few ODB things and some crappy Knockouts shirts for girls or items for irrelevant Knockouts (Karen Angle).”

Pretty good eye for the obvious bud! Yes, TNA wrestling invented the word “OVERSTOCK”!!! There is no one that knows merchandising “at the helm”. There is a guy in marketing that is ok but, he and “licensing” who is also pretty sharp, WON’T GO NEAR the topic! I have personally seen both men “shot down” trying to do the most basic of things!
Dixie’s husband kind of try’s to justify his existence as I guess, being “in charge” of merchandise. But, he’s never there, has NO PULSE on wrestling or the interest of wrestling fans!

BSN Nitrix – The #1 selling Nitric Oxide product! Buy 2 and SAVE even more at Bodybuilding.com!

The first thing I did at TNA was build an actual set for merchandise in the studio. The numbers doubled by 113%!! Dixie’s husband WOULD NOT give me an ounce of credit for it!! Over the course of the year, the increase tapered off, and averaged out to a 60% increase!!

They had 3 capable people that they MISTREATED badly that could have taken merch. To a whole other level but, as ridiculous as it sounds, much like the booking, they are intimidated by their own peoples success! Andy Barton SVP used to expect these guys to work for peanuts in the office from 8:30-5:30 everyday on a “piss poor” salary. And then, he’d expect them to make the house shows and ppv outside of Orlando as well!

No overtime and then they would get stroked on their expenses as well!!
I’m just going to “paint a picture” of Andy Barton for you. He’s like a “hill billy” version of Major Frank Burns from M.A.S.H only he has all the juice where Frank Burns didn’t!!

“What they should have done is focus on making items around the high drawing Knockouts and find a way to develop merchandise they could sell to the targeted core audience of male viewers.”

Dude, I think there was ONE Knockouts calendar!! And it was out before they focused on women’s wrestling! They also didn’t even really publicize it either! There is a lot more to marketing a product than Don West and Borash pitching it on YouTube!!!

“Just shows the brain waves of T&A brain trust is comparable to a chimpanzee in this instance…”

Awesome anology!! In my description of SVP of TNA Andy Barton, throw a little Chimp in there!! But, make it a Chimp who thinks he smarter than everyone else! You “throw that into a blender” with Frank Burns and Jethro Bodine and you’ve got “the rudder” of TNA!
SIDENOTE: I still cannot believe Andy wanted to get an “inflatable” entrance for the house shows! And call it the “TNA EXPERIENCE”. The only way they could draw at a house show now is if they froze over the “6 sides of shit” and did “TNA on Ice” and teamed up with Disney.

It’s just plain stupid! I’ll bet they are still trying to sell Pac Man and Karen shirts!!

Just take a look at the WWE business info. I studied it and studied it with several folks that are in the financial industry. Vince isn’t in the “live event” business anymore (although it turns a profit still). WWE is in the merchandise business!! It is their largest form of revenue and merchandise has the largest profit margin as well!! I pointed it out at TNA and I even offered to take the charge of merchandise for TNA on a percentage basis because I knew there would be more money! Wouldn’t do it! They didn’t want to be shown up. Ego is more important than revenue! Or ROI on Panda’s investment
