This in response to a reader that to me really seems to have an axe to grind with IWA or anything wrestling from Puerto Rico. Although he’s bitter (probably more bitter than I) he’s in the tech industry and intelligent. I’d like to get to the bottom of what he does for a living because I believe there may be some synergy there with some of the other projects I’m working on.

Also, I think that doing it thru my blog will make for some good reads and actually end up being productive! There is also some intelligent feedback in this cat if I can look thru the anger.

Great news!

Maybe Dutch can rebuilt IWA into what it used to be. Since the “greatest agent TNA ever had”, Savio Vega completely Destroyed IWA.

First, let me precurse that I am in no way trying to “dis” you. Sometimes the way I talk can be taken that way. I have a hard time sometimes being “politically correct” or walking soft if you will. Rather than burn energy trying to “soft soap” I’d rather just come out with what I mean.

I’m not sure where you got the idea that Savio is the greatest agent. You are in business. I mean, I don’t think that you are in a mindless position.

Being in the gaming industry, I’ll bet that there are similar politics as wrestling (on a smaller scale). Savio Vega is GREAT with formatting promo’s, vinette’s, storylines. He has more “in ring” experience than just about anyone in the entire industry that can still get in the ring. His second best asset is putting a match together and guiding talent to where they need to be to draw money! Very much of the IWA Victor Quinonnez years were Dutch, Savio, and Luke Williams, in that order.

They had the WWF/E rub when they started the company. However, you can document it if you have the energy, IWA’s best and most lucrative years were AFTER they were using WWE talent.
One of the best “crews” any wrestling company could have today would be:

Dutch (as your booker or GM)

Luke Williams (finishes, undercard matches, and concept matches)

Savio FUCKIN’ Vega working with the talent AS HEAD AGENT.

Moody Melendez directing and producing the television AND getting the help he needs from all of the above!

Axel Cruz/Willie Urbina commentating the TV (for ANY Spanish market).

And of course quailified and experienced agents etc. to help “run the plays”.

When Victor died quickly and unexpectedly, he left many “loose ends” and the situation put Miguelito and Savio in many BAD spots!

If you like them or not, Savio and Miguel are accomplished! Their names mean A LOT in Puerto Rico and beyond. And they both have certainly drawn more money that any current WWE or TNA agents today (with the exception of Ricky Steamboat and maybe Arn Anderson).

There are folks that are owed money. In the samer token, Miguel handles the books or money for the company. He has always made it known that the future of the company was uncertain. Wille etc. were not held at gunpoint. The chose to do what they did and could have left for greener pastures any time they wanted to.

I know for me, I would’ve been gone after 2 weeks of not getting paid and I would’ve left on good terms and said “call me when you have what you owe me. I’d love to be able to work together again.”

Maybe he can find them some new talent that are not complete pee-ons, fake ass thugs (freekies as Puerto Ricans call them) or just complete dipsticks subservient to Savio.

You have NO idea what you are talking about in regard to “subservient” to Savio!
The talent pool in Puerto Rico is currently very shallow. But, there are some guys down there for WWC and IWA that are “worth a shit”!

That being said, TO DEVELOP, THEY NEED TO WORK WITH EXPERIENCED WRESTLERS! Where and how, do you think Apollo, Ricky, etc. came from? Do you remember what GEEKS both men looked like when they broke in?

For that matter, CM Punk was rather “GEEKY” in the begining of his carrer as well! So, was Adam Perce, Colt Cabana, Ken Anderson, and more. These guys all had heart, refused to quit, and were smart enough to LISTEN! to guys like Savio and Miguelito.

Look around on the indies worldwide. Not even 2% of whats out there looks the part nor has a clue as to what they are doing. I’m sure it’s the same in your industry. Dues MUST be paid and the people who learn to listen (to bonafide sources) will rise to the top.

I have “minimal” experience in your industry. But, I was a part of the development of the first WRESTLEMANIA arcade, video game. Mark Turmell was not born knowing how to develop NBA Jam nor the video game I mentioned. Which, if I am not mistaken, was pretty mutch the pioneer for wrestling video games?

I have a contact in your industry. Do you know, or have you heard of Troy Dunniway? From what I gather, over the last 2-3 years he has won many awards in your industry. I would love to hear his story.

Maybe we can see less of Vega in the main event and even less of the new character he created by simply renaming himself and wearing face paint.

Dude! I thought you were “Boriqua”??? TNT was Savio’s first wrestling persona. He “dons” the gimmik today and what fans are left respond to it!

One of my favorite things about Puerto Rican fans is their respect and admiration for their ancestry!!! Your people (he’s a P.R. transplant) are so proud of the past and their heritage, it makes want to live there!

Also, you answered your own question. Who is there left to work with on the Island for the younger talent that may be “worth a shit”? Until you have gone to a current IWA event, I would suggest holding off on these judgements. THE FACT IS Miguel Perez jr. and Savio Vega are currently what the fans want to see.

WWC attendances are currently up. They have how many “gringos” on the roster? They bring in current WWE stars, have better video production, and have twice the tv time on WAPA that IWA does. They don’t draw much more than IWA is currently. And I am talking about MAYBE 10% more fans.

IWA needs many things. But, I can assure you that Miguel and Savio would still draw on the Island and their names will mean alot to the Puerto Rican people long after both men are gone.

Maybe he can book a little more honestly and run the money too as Savio still owes tons of people, including WIllie Urbina 3 months worth of back pay.

I doubt that will happen anytime soon. HOWEVER, IWA gave Willie Urbina the break he needed, to gather the experience, for the position he has today. If IWA hadn’t, Willie would NOT be earning a living doing what he loves NOR be any good at it!

I used to pay Ken Kennedy $10 or $15 dollars when he had his first matches for my company. He was greatful for the experience AND the last time I went to WWE, Kenny took me around to introduce me to the talent as “the guy who gave he, KC James, and CM Punk their start in the business”.

Wille is very talented and I CONSIDER WILLIE A FRIEND! But, he has BIG mouth and it has fucked him on more than one occasion!
Truth be known, Willie is probably talented enough to work with WWE. With his mouth and the things he says online, he wouldn’t last a month! Hopefully someday he’ll learn.

Maybe he can help others make some sense of Savio stealing the production truck and stealing the remaining shares of IWA which he DID NOT OWN.

Again, please share where you get this info from??? I drove that fuckin truck when I was down there last year. I got the air conditioning fixed, the locks changed, the tune up, the oil changes, the windshield fixed, the registration renewed. The production truck was Victors and registered to IWA! They were the original owners of that truck and have done a lot of custom work to it to make it a production truck!

It looks like shit but, it only has 40k miles on it and now, the air blows like the arctic!

Mario Savoldi is a SCUMBAG! If you doubt me, look up anything you possibly can on him and see for yourself.
He has been blatently caught and called out on some lets say….”creative book keeping” with the live gate receipts.

He never owned ANY PART of that company NOT ONE PART! I have a copy of the agreement and Mario was able to “scumbag” his way into an investor and his lawyer that had NO idea what they were getting into! And to this day, what actually happened!

It was not even a “partnership” deal and the only thievery that occured was by Mario himself! He stole part of the IWA video library, production equipment that Victor bought, and 2 company vehicles (including a 2002 Montana van) that he has hidden somewhere on the Island because they were part of a “barter” deal between Victor and and now defunct car dealership. So nothing can be done with either.

Mario did “con” this poor bastard into buying some ringlites he left there but, they are SHIT and currently under the bleachers (where the shit head left them) at one of the venues.

Maybe, just maybe they can get more than 50 people to one event.

Even though attendances are down in P.R. I don’t think IWA has drawn 50 people.

Maybe…. but I doubt it….

Only time will tell. If this could be pulled off with the items I suggested above, this WOULD be a big turning point for the wrestling climate on the Island!
